Alexia Urban Winery
197 West Street
Greytown
Wairarapa

Alexia cellar door and back street wine bar is now closed for vintage and will reopen in early October. Open online always!

We regularly run special pop-up events - see our News & Events page for more information on what’s coming up next.

In Greytown and want to buy our wine? head to Fresh Choice on West Street or pop into The Top Pub, Aperitif, The Offering or The White Swan for a glass or bottle.

Alexia isn’t your usual winery and vineyard experience. No vines, no sweeping rural vista…just our little winery and wine bar on an industrial site on a back street in Greytown, just 15 minutes drive from Martinborough.

We offer a small, but delicious lunch and snack menu and all our wines can be enjoyed inside the winery amongst the barrels, on our terrace, or purchased to take home. See our menu here.

We don’t offer formal tastings; visitors can instead try the ‘Alexia Experiment’ - a tasting paddle of 4 of our still wines (you choose from the available selection) for a self-guided tasting experience. Visitors have described the ‘Alexia Experiment’ as one of the best things to do in Wairarapa.

Art lovers can also enjoy our mural ‘Goodly Creatures’ painted by Cromwell based contemporary figurative artist Jen Olson. It really is something. Read about Jen’s process to create the mural on Jen’s website here.

Our winery building is a transformer: from March - October we use every inch of our space to make our wines - the place is full of tanks, fermenters, pumps and hoses and grapes…a lot of grapes. From November - late February the tanks move out, we set up our little kitchen, put out the tables and chairs and become a seasonal wine bar and cellar door.

Leashed dogs are welcome on the terrace and in the garden. Please note: For events, due to the busy nature of the day, we have a no-bookings and no-dogs policy. Alexia is also a smoke and vape-free site.
