VISIT ALEXIA/EVENTS
Our seasonal wine bar has now closed for the season, so we can pick grapes and make wine.
See our events news below for the latest on our off-season pop-ups!
Our online store is always open, or see our list of stockists to find where you can buy our wine.
Why are we a seasonal wine bar only? Our winery building is a transformer: from March - October we use every inch of our space to make our wines - the place is full of tanks, fermenters, pumps and hoses and grapes. From October - early March the tanks move out, we put out the tables and chairs and become a seasonal wine bar and cellar door.
Upcoming Events
Pies & Pinot
Hot pies in paper bags + cool pinots to match
12PM-5PM, Saturday 4 July
Nothing beats a classic wine and pie combo, which is why Alexia is turning on the ovens and firing up the pie warmer for the return of the world-famous (in Greytown) Pies & Pinot!
It’s a simple concept - hot gourmet pies eaten out of paper bags matched to the different expressions of Pinot Noir made by Alexia – Méthode Traditionnelle Rosé (pink fizz), Rosé, White Pinot Noir and of course our classic Pinot Noir!
The pie warmer will be fully stocked with the iconic Clareville Bakery pies, the fresh cream doughnuts will be lined up, and the paper bags will be ready.
Don’t mind the crumbs, it’s wine bar turned pie bar, and we can’t wait! Come hungry, thirsty, and wearing stretchy pants for the ultimate warming winter winner!

Champagne Country
An Insider’s Méthode Traditionnelle Experience
2PM, Saturday 11 July
Go behind the bubbles at Alexia Urban Winery as winemaker Jane Cooper reveals the craft behind New Zealand’s “Champagne” — known as Méthode Traditionnelle.
As one of the country’s few 100% in-house producers, Alexia completes every step of the process on site. Enjoy a rare insider’s preview of what’s still quietly ageing and developing, from still base wine to finished sparkling, and discover how time, patience, and precision transform them in the bottle.
You’ll hear behind-the-scenes stories from the winery and have the language of fizz demystified so you’ll leave knowing exactly what’s in your glass and how it got there.
This is a fun, informative event - regardless of whether you’re a devoted fizz enthusiast or just curious about the magic behind the mousse, you’ll enjoy a candid, up-close afternoon that offers a true insider’s perspective on crafting exceptional Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling.
Inclusions: Event includes a glass of Méthode Traditionnelle on arrival, all tasting pours and light snacks. Vegetarian and GF snack options available. Due to the nature of this event, other dietary requests cannot be offered.
Between the Wines & the Lines
Where great books meet beautiful wines
2PM, Sunday 12 July
With Millie Blackwell of Mrs Blackwell’s Village Bookshop and Jane Cooper of Alexia Urban Winery
Join us at Alexia Urban Winery for an afternoon where fine wine meets captivating writing. Winemaker Jane Cooper will be in conversation with Mrs Blackwells Village Bookshop owner Millie Blackwell, exploring the art of matching books to wine.
Jane will present four Alexia wines, each showcasing a different style and story in the glass. To complement each pour, Millie will introduce both a fiction and a non-fiction title chosen to echo the wine’s character and mood, weaving together taste, aroma, and narrative.
Traversing wine styles and literary genres in a fun, informative, and informal atmosphere, it’s an afternoon designed to open minds to new reading discoveries and unexpected wine favourites.
Participants will leave with a fresh appreciation for how beautifully books and wine can complement one another — and perhaps with a new bottle and a new book to enjoy at home.
Inclusions: Event ticket includes all tasting pours. Books and wines discussed will also be available to purchase to take home.
